WOMEN'S CRICKET AT GEELONG FOR SEASON 2017/18

At its Annual General Meeting ("AGM") on the 13 June 2017, the Geelong Cricket Club ("GCC") voted to join unanimously with the Geelong Women's Cricket Club ("GWCC").  This decision was ratified by the GWCC at its AGM.

The plan is that the GCC will now field two women's teams for the 2017/18 season in Melbourne based Women's Community Cricket Competitions.  Hopefully, this will then lead to the GCC having a women's team in Victorian Premier Cricket.

GCC Secretary Amanda Vines said, "This is a significant development in enabling girls and women in the Geelong region to achieve their aspirations of playing cricket at higher levels via the established pathways that already exist for cricketers at the GCC with Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia".

The GCC is calling for all girls and women to register their interest in joining the club by contacting GCC Administration Manager by email - admin@geelongcc.com.au.

GCC will also be holding a sign on membership and player registration day for all players - men and women - at its rooms at Simonds Stadium on Sunday 27 August 2017 from 10.00am to 2.00pm.

GCC is also keen to secure some sponsors for our GWCC teams; if the success of AFLW is anything to go by, now is your chance to be part of something from the start...
